We went camping this weekend in the Coronado National Forest just north of Tucson. The boys had a great time! Everyone but daddy froze the first night as it got into the low 30's. But the rest of the time was beautiful.
We did a photo shoot with a natural backdrop. I think I snapped 170 pictures. Between Kaden's fake smile and August making 170 different faces it was a miracle we found some to work with.
Kaden was a little strung out with the sun, lack of sleep because the cold and too much smoke in the eyes. But, he was a trooper to pose for daddy.
Much to my surprise, the boys could have cared less about the fire. I remember as a boy always fascinated by it, playing around it, poking sticks into it, getting into trouble because of it. No wonder I was a firefighter in the Navy and then with the Forest Service for so many years.
Another surprise was that they didn't care for S'mores. They both took one bite and thought they were too messy. When we got home I tried to give them more 'practice' thinking in the comfort of home being clean, no smoke and easy access to soap, water, and towels they might like them. But, still no luck?!

This August 2012, Laurel and I will celebrate our fourteen year anniversary!
We have two boys, Kaden 9 and August 6.
A verse that sums up the desires of our heart as a couple is Micah 6:8.
Living by this verse is a challenge and a joy. It’s a standard to live by and a goal to strive towards.
At the end of each day, week, month and year we look back and see how well we did
and how we can improve tomorrow.
It keeps us growing in all areas of our life.
