Police Academy

Well, I am 3 1/2 weeks into police academy, however it feels like several months. This academy is designed for people who have full time jobs, so it is every Tuesday and Thursday night from 6-10 and every Saturday for the entire day. With the workload and the drive time, I am easily putting in 35-40 extra hours a week, so we are extremely busy. This academy has more hours and tests than traditional academy, lasting almost 11 months. Everything is going well and I am towards the top of the class academically as well as physically.

We put Kaden in a new school this year; this one focuses much more academically as well as going back to the basics of education. They are more strict/formal (folded hands when seated, etc.), focus on patriotism, and maintain an academic standard at the top of a class rather than in the middle or even lower end. It is called Legacy Traditional School, Kaden loves it. He was so far advanced in his other school they would not have been able to teach him anything even if they used the end of the year curriculum. So, we are all happy with the move.

August, is growing so much. It is fun to see his personality form and how different it is from Kaden. Kaden is a born natural when it comes to academics and any sport involving a ball. August on the other hand is a natural ham and much more coordinated in all other physical aspects. He learned to ride a bike with no training wheels the month he turned 3!! He is also a stout daredevil jumping off any rock, table or object he can climb.

With how busy we are, we have scaled back the business, but Laurel is doing very well in one hospital system she works for. She is loved so much by the President and Vice President, they can’t send enough personal letters thanking her for everything she has accomplished.

So, unfortunately, I am unable to devote much time to family life for awhile but every now and then I am able to get a half day or an hour during dinner time to have fun. Here we are at a park enjoying a cool afternoon. The summer heat is on its way out.

Since I will be a reserve officer with the City of Maricopa I will try and snap a picture when I get my uniform and duty gear.
